Final activity of the week

Before heading home we had a highly competitive karting session, despite a few bumps and spin outs no explorers were hurt :) After this we were all ready to go back to Keynsham.

The United Kingdoms longest zip wire is four hundred and ninety meters long, although it doesn't seem that far as you shoot down at up to forty miles an hour!!

We all got into our smart clothes to go out for a civilised meal at a local restaurant. Afterwards various awards were presented to members of the party.

One last dip in the sea

We climbed, swam and jumped around the coast which is known by the locals as 'Coasteering'. There was also the chance for some to have another go at surfing on the famous Fistral beach. For those who had spent enough time in the sea already there was a chance to go shopping in Newquay.

A different sort of Beach day

Once again we headed down to a beach, however this time we met up with the local National Trust wardens. We split into several groups to help with various coastal maintenance tasks, between us we collected litter, repaired steps and flattened out sections of the coastal path. After a hard days work we had a BBQ on the beach (with the National Trusts permission). This was followed by beach games and we saw "The World" Cruise ship passing by which houses a residential community from around forty countries.

On the Razzle

For a bit of culture we headed down to the Minack Theatre on the coast. We saw "On the Razzle",which is a comedy based around nineteenth century Viennese society. In spite of a bit of drizzle and a somewhat extravagant vocabulary, all were entertained. After the show nine new explorers were invested into the unit on the theatres stage.

ShelterBox has a partnership with the Scout Association. We had a tour around the packing area and were amazed at what the charity could fit in a box.

After a welcome lie in there was a mass tidy up which led to finding various pieces of 'lost' kit from the past few days. After a trip to the beach everyone packed their kit ready for trip to ShelterBox and the Minack Theatre. Come back tomorrow to see what happened :)

On the beach again!

Those at base had a surf lesson in the rain. Despite it being just as wet on the beach as in the sea a good time was had by all.

Reunited

Yesterdays hikers returned from their camp out and were reunited with the rest of the group.

All Change!!

Yesterdays surfers spent the morning packing up their overnight equipment and route planning before setting out on their own expedition in the afternoon.

After returning from their epic coastal exploration the other half of the group had the afternoon off for a bit of rest and relaxation. A Cornish ice cream and a shower were much appreciated after two days of hiking in the heat. On returning to base they met six explorers from "Rebels ESU" from Tunbridge Wells, Kent and were quickly challenged to a game of volleyball.

Day 2

We split the group into 2. Half of the group went off walking on an overnight coastal walk. They have currently all arrived and are at their campsite resting.

The remainder of the group spent 8 hours on the beach. Surfing. Lessons were given to all. Most resulted in standing up - eventually! Great day had by all.

All arrived safe and well, just in time for lunch. Camp set up tents, all pitched, and even time for a quick trip to the beach!

After squeezing forty five peoples kit into the trailer, we tried on our nice yellow t-shirts!!

With a mixture of trepidation and excitement we checked all the light weight tents were complete with poles and enough pegs.

As we went through our own kit, some people realised that they needed a last minute shopping trip to BCH or Go Outdoors.

Final trip details were given out, Saturday mornings 6.30am leave time was not met with much enthusiasm.
